Science in traditional stories

This was all about the launch of the event wherein the students were formally introduced to the activity.
Week 1: The first week of the project began after the students already witnessed the launch of the event in the Hall at the third floor of the school building. They saw the sample of the work to be done as a part of the project. Following this launch, the work began in the classes as a group activity. Each group was separately instructed about the task of finding an Indian story, its theme ,the science/logic behind it and the presentation of the work.
Week 2: They started working in the groups to find out a story that they had already heard and read and its underlying principle. They came up with many stories. This first hour served as a means to upheaval the entire pool of stories knew so far. During this process , many new stories were shared in the class. Time went by so soon and in the end stories were many and the science hidden in these stories was also discussed in the group work. They were given the task to verify the underlying principles of the stories that they discussed in the class. Following stories were finalised.
Group 1:The Selfish Beast
Group 2: Two friends and the Bear
Group 3: The lazy Donkey
Group 4: The emperor and the seed
Group 5: Tortoise and the swans
Group 6: Cracked pots
Weeks 3  and 4: The work began with writing of scripts and dialogues and to prepare a role play. The students seemed to be over excited just by the mere mention of the fact that this task would involve a role play and would make science more enriching. They began with the art and craft work. They also began to work to present a power point presentation based on the story.

Week 4: The script was refined by the students along with supervision from the teacher. They prepared power point presentation on the story. The role play was practised in the class and the students seemed to be carried by the fun and frolic involved to a great extent.
